This is simply the most FUN you can have on the water! What started out as a Friday afternoon game has evolved in to a sport that we play when ever we get the chance.
Our players have represented the Western Province at South African Championships and represented South Africa at the Junior International Canoe Polo Championships in Belfast, Ireland and African Championships.
Combining ball handling skills and paddling into a fast-paced team sport this is a super way for everyone to simply have fun on the water.
DAYS: Tuesday and Thursday afternoons

It is the type of sport where you can play recreationally and also set your sights on playing provisionally and representing SA one day.
Canoe Polo is a fast paced sport played on a ‘court’ that is only 35m x 23m so it can be played in a pool, dam or practically any stretch of clean water. We use traditional waterpolo balls. There are a number of rules in the game in order to protect the paddlers. Here are some of them:
- Players cannot hit each other with a paddle.
- Players may not make 90 degree contact with another boat around the cockpit area.
- Once a player reaches for the ball with their hand only hands are allowed in the scramble for a ball.
- Players cannot reach over another players boat for the ball.
** We provide all the equipment in the beginning: boat, life jacket, paddle and helmet so all you have to bring is your usual swimming kit and a rash vest.
***We will gladly teach you to Eskimo roll when you are ready but it is definitely not a requirement when you first start out.
