Ready to head out and explore? We are ready for you!
For us, an explorer is an individual seeking to discover new spaces and environs through paddling that they would not normally visit on their own, and meet interesting people in the process.
Paddling allows us to see the world around us from the perspective of the seat of a kayak. We will take you to out-of-the-way places and spaces where you can connect with the water and surrounding environment.
We schedule one to two day packages to locations around the Western Cape typically at the weekend, which are partly catered and involve budget accommodation.
Because these are not guided tours, you are expected to have some level of paddling competence. We have Vagabond Mazowe doubles and Marimba singles available, but you might prefer to bring your own craft. There will be times when you could prefer to paddle in an organised group or sometimes on your own.
These venues are on our list:
Klein River, Stanford, Southern Cape Coast
Berg River, Veldrif, Western Cape Coast
Paternoster and Langebaan Lagoon, Western Cape Coast
Breede River, Southern Cape Coast
As further spaces become accessible, they will be added to the list.
The packages are seasonal, arranged for when the weather is at its best. We can also customise a tour to your requirements.
KLEIN RIVER, Stanford
Enjoy the peaceful and tranquil waters of the Klein River, where we stay on the water’s edge. The river is unspoilt, providing a suitable environment for many bird species. Paddling can become an organised group affair or you can venture out on your own, perhaps even an extended distance into the Klein River Lagoon. Sharing paddling stories over the sundown braai fire adds to the ambiance of an active weekend away from it all.
Accommodation is on a working farm just outside Stanford, an easy two-hour drive from Cape Town.
